an anthropology student's hopes for the future. . .
It's not a lie that there are times where I wondered why I'm studying what I'm studying. Sometimes the toxic filipino sayings that I hear from relatives whenever I mention I took up a unique course gets to me. But knowing the contributions different studies in the field that I'm currently and how it helps modern day society and even modern day medicine, it reminds me of reasons why I do what or I am where I am. I hope we can inspire more students to take up anthropology and not just this certain field, but the sciences where we need more people, the researches where we need more funding. I hope there will be a time where the social sciences can come up to par with the hard sciences in society's eyes and its standards and what better way to come to that time than for us to take ourselves there, for us to serve as a medium for that change. I did this unessay for an attempt to interest people on how revolutionary the findings and the concepts brought out by this course is and I'm not quite sure if I've proved my point, I hope I there's a little kid out there that comes across this link for some random reason and sees herself as a part of this.
