LINKS: An Integrated Literature-Skills Instructional Framework (Hermosa, 1992)
The lesson plans follow the structure of Hermosa's integrated instructional framework which is adapted from Benton and Fox (1985). They follow the integrated reading and language arts program, which takes a holistic approach to literacy by combining the principles of schema theory, reader response theory, and whole language instruction (Hermosa, 1992 as cited in Ocampo, 1997).
The lesson plans are based on a thematic approach to teaching literacy skills through literature.
