For this assignment, I am certain that I only used my phone camera with these shots. I am not a professional photographer, but wished that I had tried to dig into the technical stuff earlier on. Supposedly, I had other photos in mind that I remember taking and that I think are worth including for this assignment, but they were already deleted and came from my older phones that don't work anymore. I would also like to add that these photos were fortunately archived from my old Instagram account, which I never knew I would find useful until this day. It used to be, what I like to call, an ✨aesthetic✨ account which was kinda a big thing in the Instagram world around 2015. It was a time when follow-for-follow, aesthetic VSCO-curated feeds, and highly-upscaled faded photos were THE trend starter packs which you know, ya boi had to join in. Comparing this to now, we have fully shifted to embracing raw and unfiltered Instagram feeds, where the goal now is for it to look as authentic yet polished in Gen Z's eyes as possible. It was a good thing the account is public since I don't have access to it anymore, and is nothing more than an artifact floating in the Instagram space. Pighati. Anyway, here are my chosen photographs! ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)✧
During the time I was taking this picture, I remember wanting to capture the prodigiousness of the statues as they were definitely taller than an average person's height, but not so tall enough that I angled my camera in such a way to make them look tall enough as one would envision a "tall statue." Speaking of editing, I have mentioned earlier that VSCO was the main editing app IG users worked with back then. I remember applying the A6 lightroom preset of VSCO--which is more a mid to high contrast with warm, woody undertone filter. I also remembered that I used to adjust the sharpness of the photos midway, lessening the saturation, and dialing up the fade--this routine almost applies to every post on my feed to achieve the consistent warm-and-brown aesthetic I was going for. So the preset was definitely not a one-size-fits-all, where I still need to tweak most of the specific dials since not every photo is gonna turn out differently with the same filter.

Description:
Until now, I still have a love-hate relationship with Samsung cameras--I mentioned Samsung for an Android because, when choosing a phone, I typically stick with either Apple or Samsung as the brands I trust most. The caveat with Samsung cameras, on experience, is that they are only good in broad daylight and a horror to use in dark/indoor lighting. In hindsight, I was actually surprised how my Samsung J5 from 2016 was able to take such a crisp photo, with the majority of the work from the camera itself, as one could tell if a photo is trying to be heavily saved by editing or merely enhanced by it.

Description:
I rarely go to my province which is located in Ibajay, Aklan. Yes! When most people hear the word Aklan, they immediately think of Boracay. However, our place is still around a 1-2 hour ride from there but fortunately, I had the chance to go to the nearer beach when I had the opportunity to fly to my mother's family. My first trip to the province was still during my high school years when I needed to go to the wake of my grandfather--first time seeing him on a video call before he passed away, and the last time seeing him inside the coffin. I still remember crying because it would be my first time to ever leave my family's side in the Metro, so the provincial life was just full of questions and doubts; but of course, I needed to see my other side of the family, especially my grandfather, and comfort my mother whom I rarely see as well.
But for the second time, however, was just during 2023, when my mother wanted me to take a break from urban life and rest from academics--which the latter did not happen since I had no choice but to bring my laptop since the term was still ongoing. Moving on, our area was located around very tall trees and farm animals which made the scenery quite peaceful and quite the provincial life one would expect. They also had house dogs, and one of them was named Brownie. He was one of the cutest bunch as you would never not catch him smiling. Since I wanted to take memorabilia of this cutie pie, the photo above was the best way to capture his joy, executing the shot with Brownie as the primary subject. I am happy because I was able to achieve and capture with a shallow depth of field, allowing the background to be slightly blurred out to focus on Brownie. Other than that, with my main shot doing the work, I didn't do any more tweaking in the photo but added a slightly dramatic, grungy filter to add the feel of nostalgia as the main vibes I was going for. If I were to take the photo again, I would've positioned the subject to be more on the center frame, and taken consideration of my background--like the feet in the picture. I would've said that the person behind adds to a more warm and casual take on the photo, but I figure that this would only apply if the photo intended to showcase the province life showing the blurred yet happy faces of the people. But in this case, it was only Brownie.
For this photograph, I wanted a silhouette shot so I opted to pre-adjust the exposure by tapping the plants and lowering the slider and see how low-exposed it could get but just enough for a perfect complement to the brightness of the sky. For the filter, I just added a dramatic filter, literally the name of the filter in the Photo editor, the same as I placed on Brownie. I also adjusted the temperature slider to make it a bit on the cooler spectrum since my objective for this picture was to have a cool and breezy night where viewers can imagine the silhouette of plants and leaves just swaying with the cool breeze of the anticipated night. Most definitely, we felt that breeze when the sun fell but did feel the heat as we go down and outside from Cloud 9. If you have been here, you know that one foot outside is already a road full of fast-paced wheels. So definitely, the smoke and pollution was not the best experience. Personally, I already like how the photo turned out.

Description:
I remember taking this shot during the middle of sunset together with someone I just met up with for the first time--consider it a casual date. This was located in Cloud 9, Antipolo, where the famous leg-shaking bridge is located--as someone who is badly afraid of heights while people crossing the bridge are painfully rocking it as if testing how sturdy it was and watching their friends get frightened. I'm pretty sure their friends were not the only ones scared. Me! I wanted to cuss them out so bad.
Hope you liked my shots
