Logitech H390 USB headset
JKTECH Mechanical Keyboard
This headset has been around me for around 3 years. I can say that is durable and good enough for its price. Before I even started the recording, I presumed that my audio quality would be decent considering that I remember it to be a noise-cancelling headset. However, subtle noises were picked up by my headset, but all in all, it still did a good job of focusing on my voice. The headset has actually fallen several times due to my clumsiness and I'm thanking the universe it hasn't given up on me. *knock on wood.😅
I got this keyboard almost the same time as my headset and I'm very happy it still works. I bought this out of impulsiveness because 2021 was the time that mechanical keyboards were a hot thing. I chose one of the cheapest I could find and found this keyboard of mine hehe. Although mechanical, it isn't really hot-swappable so I couldn't change its switches. I have a blue switch by default hence the clackiness and sharpness of the sound clip below. My recording of its typing sounds sharp in my opinion, but my microphone was able to catch it, to say the least.
Assessing how my recording went with both clips, I can say that the overall process was a hit and miss. I can personally say that I have a decent set-up where I could easily record my audio clips. However, factors such as external noise like engines revering, barking of my pets, footsteps of people in the household, and creaking sounds from I don't even know where, were hindrances for me to record efficiently. However, to minimize and produce the best quality sound possible, I eradicated any possible noise I could such as turning off my electric fan and CPU fans before I started recording. At first, I was very indecisive about what recording equipment I should use. I was choosing among my wired Apple earphones, iPhone 11 microphone itself, my Logitech H390 USB headset, or even my Logitech C270 Webcam. One would think why would a webcam even make the cut, but these equipment were really debatable as almost all of them produce the same sound quality. However, as I have carefully listened to them, the Logitech H390 wins as it eliminates background noise the best.
It is an understatement to say that I chose the best equipment as these "best" ones are just what I have, and not what's on par with the best out of the market. With this activity, I have realized to save up for a true microphone and not a microphone from a headset so that I may record better. However, I would still like to be grateful as I have a decent headset especially when Logitech is known for being costly yet repays on its performance.
