Style

The journal follows guidelines set forth by the Council of Science Editors (CSE Citation Style). For literature citations in the text and for the References Cited, the journal uses the style for the name-year system.

For multiple authors cited in the text, the citation used follows the form “(Lit et al. 1999)” instead of “(Lit and others 1999). Refer to separate section on Citing References for additional information.

State both the accepted common name and the chemical name of pesticides and other formulations when first mentioned in the abstract or text. Similarly, state the Latin binomial or trinomial and authority at the first mention of the organism (plants, animals, and microorganisms) in the abstract or main text. Cultivars should be enclosed by ‘ (single quotes). Verify nomenclature from a reliable source and show proof of deposit/donation of voucher specimens in natural history collections.

For taxonomic papers, alphabetical arrangement of taxa is preferred to inferred phylogenetic arrangements. The species treated should be numbered consecutively and the scientific names written in capital letters (without underscoring/ underlining) at the left side, the figure or plate numbers on the same line to the right. Synonymical citations likewise are typed at the left side and each should contain only the following: scientific name, author, publication date (year) followed by a colon, particular page where the description commences, figure numbers, repository of types. All articles referred to in the synonymical bibliography are cited in full at the References Cited at the end of the paper.

With respect to identification keys, only the bracket type containing contrasting couplets, is acceptable. No taxonomic paper based on poached material or material collected without proper permits will be accepted. Accession numbers in reputable depositories should be cited in the Material Examined section.
