The Healthy University Office (HUO) is mandated to promote the occupational health and safety (OHS) of the UP Manila community through evidence-based initiatives guided by the Healthy University Framework and the OSH Standards for the Public Sector [CSC-DOH-DOLE JMC 01, S-2020].
With this, we are inviting UP Manila students, employees, and JO/COS staff to participate in the Healthy Lifestyle Prevalence Survey (HeLPS), which will assess certain aspects of their health and safety practices measured in the Healthy University Rating System (HURS).
Creating a healthier and safer environment for the UP Manila community through evidence-informed OHS programs that empower people to adopt healthy lifestyles and safe practices.
Gathering and presenting university-wide evidence for the Healthy University Rating System (HURS). The HURS is an annual evaluation of health promotion initiatives for universities in the ASEAN region using a set of standards following the Healthy University Framework promoted by the ASEAN University Network - Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN). In 2023, the University of the Philippines Manilareceived a four-star rating (with 5+ star being the highest), reflecting the presence ofa comprehensive OHS program within the university.
The survey requires participation from all constituents, enabling HUO to draw a clear picture of how the UP Manila community engages in health and safety-related behaviors. Furthermore, the HURS requires reporting of these prevalences relative to the entire student and personnel population, instead of a random sample. Nonetheless, no identifying information will be collected. All responses will also be kept anonymous and confidential, accessible only to the Healthy University Office, and will be securely disposed of after five (5) years.
