As part of its commitment to provide essential services, the Human Resource Development Office collaborated with agencies and offices to conduct a Pre-Retirement Workshop for optional and compulsory retirees of the university. The special initiative for senior citizen employees is to ensure that they have a smooth and secure transition into retirement. In collaboration with UP Provident Fund, Pag-ibig Fund, GSIS, and PNB, the workshop was conducted at Calderon Hall in College of Medicine. A total of 74 participants from different colleges, units, and offices attended the workshop.
The Director of the Human Resource Department Office Dir. Michael F. Mendoza welcomed the participants. Taking into consideration the feedback and suggestions received from the previously held Pre-Retirement Workshop 1st Batch on June 20, 2024, the HRDO L&D improved the program. In addition to the usual invited speakers, another resource speaker was invited.
As transitions can be quite challenging, the event focused primarily on familiarizing and equipping the soon-to-be retirees with the processes and paperworks to be filed and done.
Additionally, attendees were given different valuable pension plans, investment options, and financial security options. Representatives from agencies involved in processing retirement shared their expertise and additional tips and guidance to help the retirees fully understand and prepare for their post-UP life. One of the highlights of the workshop was the detailed computation of their retirement benefits. It was during and after this discussion that a lot of queries were raised. The attendees showed enthusiasm and excitement upon doing a bit of their own estimation and computation after having detailed guide regarding their separation and retirement benefits.
The event ended with satisfied retirees deciding which options to go for and how to prepare for their life after UP Manila. Having fully understood the various benefits and retirement packages available to them through UP Provident Fund, GSIS, Pag-IBIG Fund, as well as investment plans and strategies with Philippine National Bank, and other services, the event ended with prepared participants on how to make informed decisions regarding their retirement and financial future. The Pre-Retirement Workshop 2nd Batch underscores also the dedication of the Human Resource Development Office to help employees including senior citizens to make the most of their years of service within the University of the Philippines Manila community.
Stay tuned for more updates and workshops aimed at assisting UP Manila employees in every stage of their careers!
