Promoting brain health to mitigate chronic conditions and support overall health is vital for us to perform well and productively. According to the World Economic Forum, the most important skills for workers today are skills centered in the brain: analytical thinking; creative thinking; resilience, flexibility, and agility; motivation and self-awareness; and curiosity and lifelong learning. To celebrate National Neurological Week this 2024, the Philippine National Neurological Association (PNA) presents "๐ฒ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐, ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐: ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐". Philippine General Hospital Neurological Fellows led and partnered with UP Manila HRDO to conduct and facilitate a lay forum on Brain Health in the Workplace, where common Neurological diseases were tackled.ย
PGH Neurologists Dr. Charmy Lukban, Dr. Kevin Moalang, Dr. Pamela Lanuza, Dr. Mykha Tabuzo, and Dr. Natalie Nisce unpacked the common neurological conditions affecting workplace productivity. They gave brief but informative presentations on stroke, epilepsy, sleep health, headache, and pain management respectively.ย
Our dedicated Neurologists in particular shed light in understanding and managing stroke risk factors, addressing workplace-related headaches, pain management strategies, epilepsy awareness and first aid, as well as the importance of sleep health for optimal performance. Participants of the forum also raised a number of questions during the Q&A forum and were answered by the speakers thoroughly.
Dr. Mina Astejada also graced the lay forum and gave her closing remarks. Maintaining cognitive abilities and physical health of individuals facilitates better work engagement. Better brain health means prolonged workforce participation. Better brain health facilitates prolonged workforce participation as well as an increased boost in productivity and knowledge sharing while minimizing healthcare costs and chances of chronic diseases.
In line with the Universityโs commitment in promoting health awareness, this collaborative initiative between Philippine Neurologist Association, PGH Neurology Fellows, and UP Manila HRDO, to promote comprehensive brain health awareness in professional settings ensures a healthier and more productive workplace for all.
Follow Philippine Neurological Association in their Facebook account, and join us in this important celebration as we work together to build a more neurologically informed and healthier workplace community.ย
