The unpredictability we face in our daily lives makes it a requirement for us to have a reliable safety net. Whether it’s sudden illness, disability, calamities or other unexpected life events, we need to have meaningful protection against these contingencies. To minimize their time away from the community, the University of the Philippines Human Resource Development Office successfully conducted another HRDO Caravan Series: Government Services Access Express. UP Manila HRDO partnered with the Philippine Social Security System (SSS) , a state-run insurance institution counterpart of Government Service Insurance System, to conduct this year’s SSS caravan last November 13 and 14. This initiative brought essential services of SSS in the UPM community to minimize the constituents’ time away from their public service duties.
The SSS Caravan held an orientation and included services such as new applications, records update, and help desk assistance for existing, new, and potential members. The SSS fulfills the vital role of a safety net by providing protection and benefits for contingencies such as old age, death, sickness, disability, and other circumstances that may result in loss of income or financial burden.
During the 2-day caravan, 227 UP Manila and Philippine General Hospital employees were accommodated. Employees gained direct access to SSS services, minimizing their time away from work. This partnership of the HRDO and SSS exemplifies the strategy of maintaining efficient public service.
The HRDO remains steadfast in helping the community by bringing the caravan to let employees have convenient access to secure their future and protect their families through accessible social security services. Looking ahead, Human Resource Development Office plans to continue the Caravan Series: Government Services Access Express, partnering with different agencies to bring more essential services closer.
Reinforcing the commitment to both employee welfare and efficient public service delivery, the collaboration between the HRDO and SSS had accomplished multiple objectives simultaneously. The success of the recently conducted caravan has set a precedent for possible follow-up or similar caravans in the future.
Stay tuned for more updates and workshops aimed at assisting UP Manila employees in every stage of their careers!
