Learning through Makati DRRMO

The Makati Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Entry Level Capacity Building Program envisions to develop its human resource arm with knowledge, skills and attitude that represents disaster resilience as a way of life.

OVERVIEW OF THE ONLINE COURSES

This tri-module virtual short course is designed to either introduce or reinforce the knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards your function as practitioners in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. We are all called to effectively manage disaster impacts in communities through the acquisition of knowledge and understanding on how disasters affect lives, and how reducing risks, enhancing our response capacities and preparing communities alleviate these impacts.

COURSE OUTCOME

By the end of this self-paced courses, DRRMO Personnel will be able to apply the concepts, principles, and appropriate skills to effectively perform their mandated functions daily, and most especially during emergency and/or disaster situations in the City.

Knowing is Preparing

This introductory course on the basic concepts of DRRM and its principles of practice aims to enhance the understanding of learners about disaster risk reduction and management, and the significance of disaster resilience to society.

The course intends that learners become socially engaged and proactive individuals as practitioners of DRRM in their respective communities to achieve a high level of preparedness and responsiveness towards the impacts of hazards, and minimize the risk of disasters


Be the First to Help

The First Aid Basics Course provides learners with the knowledge, skills, and proactive attitude to assist or directly deliver immediate life-saving measures in emergencies occurring in an out-of-hospital setting. As injury, trauma, and out of hospital cardiac arrest remains to be one of the leading causes of disability and mortality across the globe (WHO, 2005), the call for better community response is consistently advocated to create networks of first responders that can aid in preventing injuries, trauma, and further, avoid or minimize the debilitating effects out of hospital emergencies & deaths.

Did you know that Heart Disease and the occurence of cardiac arrest, most commonly known as heart attacks are the leading causes of death in the country?

It only takes 5 minutes to preserve one's life, even if you are not a health professional. This short course on hands-only CPR aims to help you learn the importance of delivering manual resuscitation to get the heart started again. The effects of cardiac arrest can be reversed, let your hands learn how.
