What is PGCOHS?
The (Online) Postgraduate Course in Occupational Health and Safety (PGCOHS) is a 56-hour training course that aims to equip participants with the basic competency in planning and implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs. It utilizes a combination of online lectures and discussions, as well as group and plenary workshops that include situational analysis and workshops on planning actual OHS programs.
Who are eligible to enroll in this course?
The primary target clienteles of the course are OH physicians and OH nurses.
Over time and due to regulatory demands, it has been extended to also cater to all practitioners and professionals involved in OHS.
Is UP-CPH a recognized institution for providing BOSH training?
The College of Public Health takes pride in its distinction as an institution authorized by law to conduct training on OSH in Occupational Nursing and in Occupational Medicine according to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Department Order No. 16-01 series of 2001 and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) Rule 1964-01.
The Department of Labor and Employment through the Occupational Safety and Health Center extends the recognition for the college as an academic training provider for OHS courses. PGCOHS is a basic course in occupational medicine and satisfies the 56-hour training requirement for OH physicians and nurses. For safety professionals or those seeking Safety Officer appointments, this course could help you plan and implement actual OSH programs and can be filed as Self-directed Learning for CPD purposes.
What Philippine policies are relevant to the PGCOHS and the intended participants?
The intended participants are those that comply with required training hours for different OHS designations outlined in the following policies:

Are there applicable units from this course?
For each offering, Continuing professional development (CPD) Units are being applied for the Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medical Technologists, and Sanitary Engineering Professions.
For the rest of the professions not mentioned, this course could be filed as Self-Directed Learning.

You may provide your PRC license or College Diploma
How do I enroll in PGCOHS?
We usually accept reservations two months prior to the scheduled offering.

Reservation Forms are released to the general public prioritizing those who inquired at an earlier stage but due to the volume of requests, actual registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
What is the training mode of delivery?
In observance of the minimum public health standards, the PGCOHS which was originally developed as a face-to-face training course is offered online for the year 2023. Online offerings will use Google Classroom as the learning management system while Zoom meetings will be used for the synchronous sessions.
How long does the course take?
The course runs for 10 days (56 hours) from Mondays to Fridays, starting at 8:00 am and ending at 3:00 pm or 12:00 pm on select days.
How much is the course fee?
The course fee, subject to change based on currency status, is Php 11,000.00 inclusive of the online materials and a certificate of attendance. Early bird (discounted) rates are usually announced at least a month in advance.
