What is Preenlistment and Preadvising?
Every semester, close to midterms, the Department conducts a pre-enlistment survey among students to determine the courses, and number of sections needed for students in the following semester. This involves meeting/communicating with your academic adviser (one of the members of the faculty) so that they may advise you on the courses to take, and to make sure you are on track. They can also advise you on the courses to take if you have particular interests in mind.
Pre-pandemic, this was usually done face-to-face, but this semester it has to be done remotely. The Department and the OCS worked together to develop the process.
STEP 1: Download and fill out the PREENLISTMENT ADVISING FORM.
DOWNLOAD the form first, then fill out the form with the courses you will take next semester. If you're not sure about what to take, you may check out the program checklists here.
STEP 2: Email the PREENLISTMENT ADVISING FORM to your academic adviser using your up.edu email address. Use the Subject heading: [DBC: Preenlistment Survey 2nd Sem 20-21].
They are likely the faculty member you were in contact with when you registered. If your academic adviser has changed, you will be notified by the Department.
STEP 3: Wait for your adviser to check and approve your PREENLISTMENT ADVISING FORM.
They will send a signed form back to you via your up.edu email address.
STEP 4: Access the ONLINE PRE-ENLISTMENT SURVEY FORM and enter the courses approved by your adviser.
You fill out this form after you receive the signed form from your adviser. DO NOT make any changes at this time. Adjustments can be made during regular registration.
STEP 5: Submit the PRE-ENLISTMENT SURVEY FORM.
And you're done!
Note that this does not mean you are enlisted in the courses you entered. You are telling us what courses you want to take next semester. This will help us plan the sections needed in each course and help us help you secure one for following semester.
