The family is a crucial support system, especially for teenagers who are currently undergoing a period of self-discovery and identity formation, including their gender identity. With this, our project aims to provide ways to support and properly approach conversations about sexuality and gender identity while maintaining a safe and nonjudgmental environment within the household setting.
We, Robyn Maningas, Rox Mirano, Mikhaela Ramos, Mariz Rebong, and Kurt Santos, are undergraduate students from the University of the Philippines - Diliman, taking up Psych 103: LGBTQI Psychology. Our advocacy is to foster safe, validating, and respectful spaces for queer children, specifically bisexual children, within the smallest yet most impactful support system of society, the family. We created an entertaining one-episode radio drama that centers around the experiences of Jhemerlyn, a high school year-old, bisexual female. We hope this project will promote safe, open discussions and provide emotional and psychological support at home. Additional references are provided as well on the experiences of bisexual individuals. Feel free to check them out in the “Your Guide” tab.
