On reflection of my experience in MMS 173, Photography in Multimedia, I am filled with a mix of emotions—anticipation, curiosity, and a touch of nervousness. This course has been a stimulatingexperience that has challenged my initial expectations as well as broadened my knowledge of the role of photography in the context of multimedia storytelling. When I was enrolling and choosing subjects, I initially choose MMS 173 because I have been interested in photography since then. I am a photojournalist looking to broaden my photographic abilities and expertise. Choosing this course did not cause me to think twice.
I had good expectations at the start of the course that I would learnnew photography techniques in composition, lighting, and post-processing. I was expecting to learn how these techniques are utilizedin actual multimedia projects. My introduction about myselfemphasized that I wanted to enhance my photography skills and learn from others. As Unit I progressed, I was surrounded by a wealth of information regarding photography principles like design elements and composition techniques. Through the exercises, I was able to experiment with different styles and techniques, which was difficult but fulfilling.
After I submitted my first assignments, I got a chance to look at some of my classmates' work. It was eye-opening to see the different ways they approached their projects and the creative solutions they found. This not only showed the talent in our class but also gave me helpful ideas about different photography techniques. For example, some students used new ways to arrange their shots, while others concentrated on capturing interesting moments. These examples motivated me to tryout new ideas in my own projects.
Class online meetings were also a significant component as they would typically discuss topics that pertain to current trends or individual experiences when it comes to photography. They assisted me ingrasping the larger picture of photography in multimedia and how it impacts individuals. They also challenged me to question critically the content that I consume as well as that which I produce.
As I go along, I am looking forward to and nervous about the assignments and final project ahead. The challenge to perform at leastas well as the past classes motivates me. I have begun thinking about ideas for the final project, looking at themes that are interesting to seeand meaningful. The aim is to produce a piece that shows my photography skill and also tells a compelling story.
I've been trying out a variety of themes and concepts, drawinginspiration from my own experiences and overall social issues. I'm nowtrying to concentrate my ideas and develop a concrete story, and I'mcurious to see where it goes.
Collaboration allowed us to exchange what we had, provide feedback, and benefit from the strengths and weaknesses of others. This discussion forum allowed us to feel that we were part of a group and were being encouraged, and learning was more enjoyable and efficient.
The course has been well-organized, with proper guidelines and timely feedback. The instructor's style has been open and supportive, with honest feedback and constructive criticism. This has enabled students to freely express their thoughts, which is priceless for improvement and growth. Hoping to have a face-to-face session in this class and more online sessions.
