This is one of my favorite images as a photojournalist of the events from being a member of the school's official publication, "The Cursor". I took this shot on June 14, 2024 at the University Theater in UP Diliman using my Canon M50 Mark II with 70-300mm of lens because I am sitting a little bit far from the performers and so I can also capture candid shots of some performers.
What I love in this picture is because I got lucky to capture this moment of Mr. Toledo giving thanks to all listeners after their performance. Chino Toledo is one of the Philippines' finest and best conductors ever. I photograph because it's a powerful medium for communication and expression. In the case of Mr. Toledo, I wanted to capture his essence as an artist, his passion, and his contribution to the world of music. I hoped to create an image that reflects his creativity and inspires others.
To me, photography is about putting stories, feelings, and moments into a visual form. It allows for the sharing of viewpoints and the freezing of time. I'm particularly drawn to candid and portraiture photography because I want to convey the subject's genuineness.
This is a one-of-a-kind photograph, and I am the only one who photographed the situation in which the Philippines' young best riders compete for the podium (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). I am very happy to capture this very moment where took place in Tarlac Circuit Hill on November 10, 2024.
I am the official photographer for our racing team, which competes in one of the country's biggest racing events. Just to share with you, on my first attempt as a racing event photographer, I had no idea what camera settings to use, therefore I used auto mode and got no nice photos.
One of my colleagues taught me how to experiment with the camera settings, particularly the shutter speed. After some trial and error with manual camera settings, I was able to obtain magnificent images from the racing event, which made me extremely happy.
This photo is especially memorable to me; it was taken on May 3, 2024, in Boy Scout Circle, Timog Avenue, Quezon City. It was World Press Freedom Day, and this was my first cover for The Cursor as a photojournalist.
I am from Rizal and I went to Quezon City just to cover this event which students and journalist participated in to celebrate the World Press Freedom Day.
This was my first solo cover as a photographer, and I am delighted that my head photojournalist commended me for the magnificent photos I captured, as well as thanked and congratulated me on my very first cover.
