Welcome to my Research Folio. As an Assistant Professor of Hydrogeology and Environmental Science at the University of Duhok, I have dedicated my academic career to understanding and protecting our planet's most vital resource—water. My research is grounded in field-based investigations, lab analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, all aimed at delivering practical and policy-relevant outcomes.
My work lies at the intersection of hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, and sustainable water resources management. I specialize in:
Groundwater and surface water quality
Hydrochemical and isotopic tracers
Groundwater vulnerability mapping
Emerging contaminants (pharmaceuticals, heavy metals)
Water-related impacts of climate change
Environmental monitoring in refugee and post-conflict settings
I am currently leading and co-leading several applied research projects focused on environmental protection and public health, including:
Assessing Heavy Metals in Wastewater, Soil, and Vegetables in urban Duhok
Evaluating Wastewater Quality in Domiz Refugee Camp
Enhancing Knowledge and Awareness on Groundwater Quality in the Nineveh Plain (in collaboration with IHE Delft, Netherlands, 2024–2025)
Throughout my academic journey, I have published in top-tier journals such as Journal of Hydrology and Environment International, with topics ranging from aquifer recharge to pharmaceutical contamination.

I have presented my research at global scientific venues, including:
European Geosciences Union (EGU), Vienna
International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), Canada, Australia, Morocco
International Geoscience Congress (IGC), Brisbane
Regional conferences in Erbil, Duhok, and beyond
My work is built on meaningful collaborations with:
International research centers, like IHE Delft and the University of Bordeaux
Iraqi and Kurdish universities, especially within water, agriculture, and environment faculties
Local and international NGOs, including USAID and AVSI
policymakers, to influence environmental and water governance across Kurdistan and Iraq
I’m always open to new partnerships that bridge scientific inquiry and real-world impact.
Supporting the next generation of environmental scientists is a priority for me. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students on:
Water pollution monitoring
Groundwater modelling and vulnerability
Sustainable land and water resource management
I provide interdisciplinary mentoring that encourages curiosity, fieldwork, and policy relevance.
If you're a researcher, institution, or student interested in water science, environmental monitoring, or sustainable development—I welcome the opportunity to connect. Whether it's co-authoring papers, applying for joint funding, or exploring training opportunities, I believe collaboration is the heartbeat of impactful science.
