A Web-Based Application that will be managing the boarding houses for University of Zambia students in Lusaka..
DETAILED AIM
The study is aimed at developing an effective Student Boarding House Management System in Zambia, particularly for the University of Zambia and boarding house owners. The Boarding House Management System will provide users with all relevant services with regards to managing the student boarding houses and looking for the boarding houses. It will be an advanced web based application for locating one’s boarding house and will be beneficial to the parents as well. Parents of students using boarding house management system, will have the power to look into the security and welfare of their children by means of having the geographical profile of the boarding house where the children resides. The system will be helping the students to be safe and secured with their respective renting boarding houses, and the system will perform all services required by the users. It is a system which will have a complete list of services and information, to identify the profile of the students and determine the type of boarding houses students are renting.
Key efforts in the Development of a system and why they matter
Here, we will carry out a study to gain an understanding of the customers (students), current system and problems experienced in this system through interviews, observations and participations. This stage matters because we will use the obtained data to determine the viability of the system being proposed in terms of technical, economic and social feasibility.
At this stage, we will gather information about what the customer needs and define the problem the system will be expected to solve. This stage also matters because, the requirements gathered will be discussed with supervisor to conclude the requirements if they are suitable for the system.
At this stage, we will make an overall design of the system architecture and physical design which includes User Interface and database design. It is at this stage that we will identify any faults before moving onto the next phase. The output of this stage is the design specification which will be used in the next stage of implementation.
At this stage, we will be coding as per design specification(s). The output of this is one or more product components built according to a pre-defined coding standard and debugged, tested and integrated to satisfy the system architecture requirement.
At this stage, we will ensure both individual and integrated whole are methodically verified or validated to ensure they are error free and satisfy customer requirements. By so doing we will ensure bugs found are corrected before moving on to the next stage.
Once the functional and non-functional testing is done, the product will be deployed in the customer environment or released to the market for the customers to check if the deployed system meets their requirements standard.
This stage occurs after installation, and involves making modifications to the system or an individual component to alter attributes or improve performance. These modifications arise either due to change requests initiated by the customer, or defects uncovered during live use of the system.
