What is LEAD Team?
The Leadership Engagement and Development (LEAD) Team is a student organization that plans programs to empower and promote UNLV student civic engagement and leadership development.
We view leadership as a purposeful and collaborative process of creating change, and we believe leadership is a process everyone can engage in. Our events are designed to help every UNLV student—regardless of previous experience with leadership or identification as a leader—to understand, value, and practice socially-responsible leadership. The Leadership Certificate (co-curricular) is an opportunity to engage with the series of Leadership Lunches-- but students can also just attend one event.
We also plan events to prepare the UNLV community to engage in civic life. This could include nonpartisan events such as: voter registration initiatives, election education series, free and fair election advocacy, voter turnout celebrations, and civic engagement skill-building. These Snacks and Skills series offer panels, trainings, workshops and more to learn how to be an engaged community member.
What LEAD Team positions are available?
Leadership & Democratic Engagement Program Assistants (PAs) – 3 positions available
Leadership and Democratic Engagement PAs work 10 hours/week in our office, and are paid hourly. They work closely with the Assistant Director for Leadership, Engagement and Service, the Leadership and Democratic Engagement Program Coordinator, and the other LEAD Team Program Assistants (as well as the other office PAs) to implement leadership and democratic engagement events. These positions are a great opportunity to get experience planning events/programs, learn about leadership/democratic engagement, and work in an office setting. This role manages the "behind the scenes" and the facilitation of LEAD Team leadership and democratic engagement events.
Three (3) LEAD Team PA roles are available beginning the week of August 12 and continuing through May 2025; we will conduct interviews for these beginning in April 2024. (One (1) of the four (4) LEAD Team PA roles are filled for summer.)

Why Join LEAD Team?
"I joined LEAD Team because I have a passion for leadership development programs and aim for personal growth. When I first heard about LEAD Team, I was instantly drawn to it because it had unique programs which incorporated leadership aspects that made LEAD Team incredibly different from other leadership organizations. I saw that a group of students were about to connect a topic they were interested in such as, religion, environmental justice and day-to-day interactions into the aspect of leadership."
