Application Timeline

2024-2025 Academic Year Update: We have currently filled all positions. However, we continuously recruit applicants should any of our positions become vacant. If you are interested in being on our team in the next year, you are still encouraged to complete the application so that we have it on file if/when a position becomes available during the next academic year.

In Spring 2024, we'll have multiple hiring timelines; we encourage you to apply as soon as you are interested since positions may fill!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply to more than one position? (i.e. Alt Breaks Program Assistant and LEAD Team Program Assistant)

Yes, you may apply for as many positions as you'd like when filling out the Google Form. However, we ask that students only hold one SLL student staff position during an academic year.  You can still interview for multiple roles to help you learn which one best fits your interests and needs.

What if I'm already in one of these roles?

Students who currently hold a positional student leader role in our office (ie PAs, Coordinators, Site Leaders) will be asked to reapply, using the same form as first-time applicants. The reapplication process asks slightly different questions, and is designed to assess whether individuals are prepared for and committed to continued growth in their positions.

Additionally, students who currently hold one role in our office but are interested in exploring other opportunities can apply to other positions as well.

How do you decide who gets each position?

Staff members who advise our programming councils will meet after interviews to determine final hiring decisions. During that meeting, staff members will use notes from in-person interviews to determine which student applicants are most prepared to meet the expectations of each Program Assistant and/or stipended council role. At this meeting, staff members will also discuss how best to proceed with applicants who applied to more than one role. Based on applicant pool and available positions, this may mean that applicants who express interest in more than one position will be offered a role that was not their "first choice." While we do consider applicant preferences, we will ultimately make the decisions that we feel are most developmental for each applicant, and for each program.

Is there a GPA requirement?

Because all SLL program assistant positions are classified as on-campus employment, the students in these positions are required to maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA per university guidelines. Applying to one or more of these positions requires that you consent to a grade check process.
