Purpose To recognize and reward faculty or staff who engage in meaningful and sustainable assessment that is used to improve student learning

Possible Example Recognizing a faculty member who was/is instrumental in developing an innovative and meaningful assessment activity that led to the improvement of student learning 

Application Requirements

•  Nominated by Dean or Vice Provost 

• Letter explaining how the individual has contributed to high quality academic assessment that provides useful information about student learning 

• Copies of any relevant assessment reports Email all materials to assessment@unlv.edu 

Award Amount: $2,500

Purpose To recognize and reward programs and/or departments, who engage in meaningful and sustainable assessment that is used to improve student learning

Possible Example Recognizing a department who created regular, organized events, in which students, faculty, alumni, employers, and community members gather to discuss student learning outcomes and to set goals for the program 

Application Requirements

• Nominated by Dean or Vice Provost 

• Letter explaining how the program, unit, or department conducts academic assessment in a manner that provides useful information about student learning 

• Copies of any relevant assessment reports Email all materials to assessment@unlv.edu 

Award Amount: $2,500

Purpose To recognize fully developed (completed) projects that focus on mission fulfillment related to the Top Tier Strategic Plan. The project may assess program learning outcomes, or other institutional goals that support fulfillment of Top Tier goal metrics

Possible Example A redesign of curriculum focused on improving student retention and graduation rates 

Application Requirements 

• Proposal summary addressing 

  • mission fulfillment, 

  • innovation, 

  • use of data, 

  • engagement 

• Detailed description of project, not to exceed 5 pages

Award Amount:  $1,500 - Renewable up to 2 times beyond initial grant award 

Purpose To support projects or ideas that will assess course, program, or institutional core theme goals, and be specifically geared toward mission fulfillment of some aspect of the Top Tier Strategic Plan 

Possible Example Implementation of an intervention designed to address retention issues within a unit

• Detailed description of project, not to exceed 5 pages 

• Detailed budget that includes all sources of funding
