Beatriz Herguedas Francés

I am a "Ramón y Cajal" Fellow at the BIFI institute in the University of Zaragoza. I did my PhD in the University of Zaragoza (2007-2011) working on the structure of electron-transfer proteins. In 2011 I moved to the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge (2011-2019), where I combined cryo-EM and crystallography to get insights into the structures of Gutamate Receptor Complexes.

I came back to Spain to start my independent research career in 2019. My work focuses on the structural biology of membrane protein complexes. I am also interested in teaching and mentoring students, finding the right work-life balance and supporting the role of women in Science.
