Universidad de Zaragoza (Unizar)

Universidad de Zaragoza, is a public higher education and research institution located in Zaragoza, Spain. The I3A (Aragon Institute of Research in Engineering) encloses multidisciplinary engineering research, including a Robotics and Perception group.

Unizar coordinates the EndoMapper project and provides the expertise in visual SLAM, an area in which its a world leader, the researchers involved are Profs Juan D. Tardós, A. Murillo, J. Civera and JMM Montiel (EndoMapper coordinator). Additionally, they include Prof. A. Lanas, a GI doctor who provides the medical point of view and the interface with Hospital Clinico Lozano Blesa.

Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA)

Université Clermont Auvergne is a multidisciplinary higher education institution located in Clermont- Ferrand, France. The EnCoV (Endoscopy and Computer Vision) research group conducts scientific, clinical and interdisciplinary research in, respectively, computer vision, endoscopy and computer-aided medical diagnosis, and intervention.

UCA is an academic partner that provides expertise in NRSfM in which Prof. Bartoli is a global leader. This expertise is key in the project because of the prevalent scene deformation in the medical endoscopy. UCA also provides its background in the medical GI area.

University College London (UCL)

University College London is a major university of international reputation with extensive experience in EU Framework Programmes and Horizon2020. Within the UCL School of Biomedical Sciences, associated clinical institutes (eg. The UCLH Education Centre, Institute of Child Health, Institute of Hepatology and the Chitra Sethia Minimal Access Surgery Training Centre) and academic hospitals (eg. UCLH, Royal Free), it has one of the largest centres of biomedical research in Europe.

UCL team provides key expertise in two areas, computer vision for minimally invasive surgery (Prof Stoyanov), and Machine Learning (Prof. Kokkinos) for computer vision in medical scenes. Additionally, they include Prof. Lovat, a GI surgeon who provides the medical point of view and the interface with University College Hospital.

Odin Vision, founded by a team of clinicians, medical imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) experts, is developing the next generation of AI enabled applications for endoscopic procedures.

Odin is providing to EndoMapper their expertise in commercial endoscope devices, and the point of view of the market demands for intracorporeal VSLAM.
