Grades and comments are entered through the Class page in the Faculty Portal. The Registrar will announce that the grading period is open, and from that point on, you may enter grades and comments for all students. You do not have to complete all your grades at the same time-- you can leave the grading interface at any time. Whatever grades and comments you have completed will be saved and ready for advisor review.
All grades and comments are saved in real-time as you enter them. There is no "save" button in order to record the grades in process, and you can leave a student and return to finish their entry at a later time. Comments are not visible to advisors until you check the "Mark Student Ready for Review" button (see below).
1) Open the class from the Faculty Portal.
2) In the class view, click the "Grades and Comments" tab.
3) Begin with the Class Curriculum tab.
The "Class Curriculum" page is for a short overview of the term. This course description will appear on all students' report cards, and serves to give parents and families an introduction to the work their student has done in the class. In roughly one paragraph of narrative writing, please describe the curriculum of the course up to this point. Be sure to hit the green button to save your text. Click "Back to Student Grades" to return to the student grading display. You only need to do this once per class-- the class curriculum will be applied to all students in the course.
Word of Caution
Please do not write your class curriculum in Microsoft Word in order to copy-and-paste into Veracross. Microsoft Word text carries a lot of extra formatting information which could paste poorly into the comment field. If you prefer to write your comments offline, please do so in a plain text editor such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
If you have already created text in Word, you can safely "Paste as Plain Text." Copy the text out of Word as you normally would, and then place your cursor in the Veracross comments box. Press CTRL-Shift-V (Win) or ⌘ -Shift-V (Mac) to Paste as Plain Text. You can also right-click with your mouse and choose "Paste as Plain Text" from the menu.
4) Enter Grades
Under each student, you will see drop-down boxes for either Qualitative Grades (MS and all Fine Arts), or a Term Grade (everyone else). Complete the drop-down list to enter the grades.
5) Enter Comments
Please type your comments directly into the comments field.

The "Mark Student Ready For Review" button sends the comments on to advisors for review. You are now ready to move on to the next student.
Did You Know?
You can quickly check the status of the whole class to check your work. Under "Grades and Comments" select Class Summary. You will see a list of students and an instruction to "Add some columns using the dropdown above." If you select "Add Columns," you'll have the ability to select the term status. As you record grades, this will show you your progress.
