University Academy uses Satchel Pulse to screen our students in grades K-12 on their Social Emotional Learning in five different areas:
Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Relationships Skills, Self-Management, and Responsible Decision-Making.
The scores from these screenings are then used to place students into Tiers. Parents of students in Tier 3 are contacted with additional supports (small group participation, individual meetings with a school counselor or other professional).
Parents can request a copy of their student(s) screening results anytime.

Our Lower School uses the Zones of Regulation curriculum to help students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and social skills. This framework teaches students to recognize their feelings, categorize them into four color-coded "zones," and use strategies to manage their emotions effectively. By learning to identify and regulate their emotions, students build skills for focus, problem-solving, and positive interactions with others.
Families can reinforce these lessons at home by using the same language and encouraging open conversations about emotions. Stay tuned for resources and tips to help support your child’s learning!
In our Upper School, we utilize the Teen Mental Health and Life Skills curriculum from Whole Person to equip students with essential tools for managing stress, building resilience, and making informed decisions. This program focuses on mental health awareness, coping strategies, communication skills, and goal-setting, helping students navigate the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood.
By engaging in discussions, activities, and real-life applications, students gain the confidence and skills they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Families can support this learning by encouraging open conversations about mental health and reinforcing positive coping strategies at home.
