Academic pursuits can be directed toward regional development, prioritizing the well-being of people in need while also striving for excellence. Teaching, Research, Dissemination and Engagement in regional development activities must be prioritized. This encompasses ensuring equitable access to education for all socioeconomic backgrounds and creating systems for safety and security. The goal is to empower communities and transform them into sustainable, prosperous areas. This approach combines the pursuit of knowledge with a commitment to social impact, focusing on both academic achievement and community betterment.

Additionally, the conch is linked to Goddess Maha Lakshmi and the planet Saturn, and is believed to have various health benefits.
Participated the South Asia Forum on " Climate Action and Food systems Transforamtion towards Food Security held at the Intercontinental Dhaka, during 16-18 April, 2024 . Presented a Flash talk and then served as a panel member as well as Moderator of a session on : Communication, Education, Research and outreach" organized by Michigan State University, USA and Farming Future Bangladesh.

Special Side Event at the 2020 World Food Prize (WFP) Symposium:
The World Food Prize (WFP) Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa hosted their annual symposium and Borlaug Dialogue from October 12 – 16, 2020 to continue the legacy of Dr. Noman E. Borlaug, Father of Green Revolution and Nobel Peace Laureate 1970. In conjunction with the WFP symposium, MSU along with its global partners hosted a special side event virtually on October 14, 2020 focusing on “Home Gardens for Food and Nutritional Security and Enhanced Livelihoods in Developing Countries.”
A six-member distinguished panel participated in this side event along with MSU officials including the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), Dr. Ronald Hendrick, and Dr. Karim Maredia, Director of CANR International Programs. The panel members from different regions of the world shared their findings, experiences and contributions of home gardens in improving food and nutritional security and livelihoods. Being the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, I have lead the writing team in consultation with all the Heads of the departments of the faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna and submitted the project to JICA worth of Rs 2.45 Billion to establish Research Complex and farm. Its is one of the successful project of the University of Jaffna from the Foreign aid. Later I have signed the agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education in the capacity of Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Participated as a Resource person at the First National Conference on Biofertilizers and Biopesticides held on 29-30 November, 2017 at the International Water Management Institute, Battaramulla.
Inauguration ceremony (held on 11.02.2013) of the Project of Commonwealth of Learning - Mobile Literacy - Open University of Sri Lanka Project and served as Coordinator of the Jaffna, prepared 120 sms messages on Financial Literacy and uploaded into the Mobitel Mobile Platform. The project targeted the women of Jaffna (350) and Hambanthota (300). Senior Minister of Scientific Affairs was the Chief Guest. Prof Uma Coomarasamy was the Consultant from Commonwealth of Learning in such Projects
