Functions and Responsibility of Audit Assistants
Audit Assistants should perform all types of auditing tasks under the supervision of a senior auditor. From our analysis of job postings, here are some of the core responsibilities to expect in this position
1. Identifying issues ( by interview, symptoms, unusual items, irregular activities etc )
2. Collecting data, checking, verifying examining, analyzing and observing all quantitative and qualitative data related to the issues.
3. Finding the facts on issues by using Test of Internal Controls, Analytical Procedures, Risk Assessments, etc
4. Maintaining working papers, records and evidences and keep its as confidentiality.
5. Preparing the audit observation report with proposing preventive measures and SMART recommendations
6. Drafting report to be submitted to the Head for the correction and approval
7. Issuing the internal audit observation report to the Vice Chancellor after signing by the Head and copy to respective officer to take necessary action.
8. Following up actionstaken and furnishing the reply to the audit report from the respective officer.
9. Obtaining the comments from the Head based on the responses received from the respective officers tothe issued internal audit observation report (satisfaction or not)
10. Placing the internal audit observation report with management response to the Audit Committee if necessary.
11. Closely monitoring on actions taken and avoiding repeat queries.
