Welcome to the C9 Duty Max Calculator for DOMESTIC pairings! READ CAREFULLY the first time you use this before entering information, so that you can accurately calculate your Latest Door Closure Time.Β
IMPORTANT! You must use the "Scheduled" CCS pairing info and not the "Updated".Β
Your SCHEDULED pairing info (not "updated") for your current pairing modification
Your REPORT time for your current duty period converted to your Home Domicile Time or (HDT)
Your SCHEDULED FLIGHT TIME for the final segment (originally published flight time, not the "updated")
Convert your Report Time to Home Domicile Time (HHMM)
You must convert your report time for the duty period in question to HDT (Home Domicile Time) and enter it. The calculator will not do this for you!
Report Time is the time you started your duty day and MUST be converted to your Home Domicile Time before entering. This determines not only when you started, but which actual duty max is used in the calculation.Β
High Value Trip (What is a HVT?)
Answer "yes" to High Value Trip (HVT) if all are true:Β
single duty period pairing (regardless of calendar days
report time of 0500 -1859
has 3 or fewer segments
9 hours flight time or more.Β
Customs (Why am I being asked this?)
Clearing customs at the beginning and/or end of your duty period adds :15 minutes to your duty day. This field will factor that into the calculation for each customs clearance.Β
Clearing customs in the middle of your pairingΒ does not extend your duty day and should not be included when filling this field (ie for a Toronto turn with a long sit requiring you clear immigration/customs on the sit you would not enter it).
Scheduled Flight Time for Final Segment (HHMM)
Our duty max is based on the originally published flight times - not the updated times, regardless of how the jet stream may be affecting flight times on this particular day. Therefore, we MUST get our flight time for this field from the Scheduled pairing information and NOT from the updated pairing info.Β
Check the upper left corner of the pairing info to ensure "scheduled" is in bold black and you are entering the correct info (see pic above).
Departure City Time Zone (HDT +/-)
As an example, if you are on a DEN pairing, then Mountain Time is your HDT. If your final segment for this duty period is departing out of LGA, then you would select HDT +2 (Home Domicile Time + 2) since LGA is in Eastern Time and is 2 hours ahead of DEN). You can use Google to verify time zones if needed.Β
Calculate Latest Door Closure
This is your Latest Legal Door Closure. One minute later and you are illegal for this flight. You may be required to remain on board with passengers and/or you may be reassigned to a shorter flight which will have you landing within your duty max. Go to the AFA IRROPs Survival Guide for next steps.Β
For iPhone & iPad users: If there are any scrolling issues with the calculator, try dragging from the top or far right edge of the screen. This is a known issue with Safari on iOS devices. Works fine on Chrome for iOS.Β
