P.E. Clothes or Lock Anyone?

The P.E. uniform is a gray t-shirt with last name on the back & black shorts. Some students have their name printed on the back of their P.E. t-shirt while others use a Sharpie & write their names across the shoulder blade area of the t-shirt. The students will need PE clothes shortly after the first day.

  • Want to order P.E. clothes from us? The PE dept will be providing shirts and shorts through your My School Bucks account. The district will be sending instructions for this new payment system shortly. You can start by Clicking here to sign in. You can also have names printed on the back of the shirt at this link as well.

  • Students will need a lock for their P.E. locker. If you purchase the hall & P.E. lock from us, their combination will be the same & is guaranteed through senior year of high school by any Unit 5 secondary school. If a lock breaks, we replace it the same day. A pair of locks is $14 in cash or check payable to Parkside JHS.

Transportation routes available to view in Infinite Campus August 14th. Any Questions? Please reach out to First Student at 557-4287.

Silent and Away During the Day! That will be a common message that all students will be hearing this year. Cell phones are to be on silent and not visible. Students will not be permitted to have that at lunch or passing periods. Please reiterate this message to your students.

Student IDs - News and Info

Student IDs serve two extremely important purposes within school this school year!

First, these IDs are used to help expedite our lunch lines, and secondly, allow us to know actual student attendance on any bus ride!

IDs in the school lunch line

Please note, school lunch is charged this year. Free lunch for all is no longer in effect. It is extremely important your student has his or her student ID for lunch each day!

IDs on the bus

Any time a student rides a bus (even for athletic events), students will be required to scan their IDs. This will allow "real time" access to data indicating student attendance on bus routes. This is extremely important in the case of an emergency!

Please note the use of student IDs in these situations is now the expected norm for the school year!

Student IDs will be provided to your student by us, once we receive them from Unit 5 Technology!

Please encourage - and remind - your student to wear his or her ID as he or she moves through the lunch line, and please remind your student to scan his or her ID as the enter and leave his or her bus!

Secondly, please help to ensure your student has a secure way to locate his or her ID - whether through a lanyard, wallet, card case, etc. If you need assistance with this, please contact your student's school counselor.

What if your student loses his or her student ID this year? Please have your student talk to a staff member about requesting a new one for him or her. We have the ability to print new IDs for students in-house. Please note students will be provided one free replacement ID from Unit 5. Additional IDs will cost $3.00!

Middle School Math

Due to the effects of the pandemic and the district’s transition this year to Fastbridge (aMath) as the math universal screener, the District has revised the process for determining 6th grade math placements for the 2022-2023 school year. Please review the updated FAQ, and if you have questions please contact the Mrs. Jensen.

Bus Rider Reminders

While students are on the bus, they are under the supervision of the bus driver. Parents are encouraged to discuss bus safety and appropriate behavior with their children before the beginning of the school year and regularly during the year.

  • Bus behavior has the same expectations as the school/classroom.

  • Students should be waiting at their bus stop on time.

  • Enter and exit the bus only when the bus is fully stopped.

  • Choose a seat and sit in it immediately upon entering the bus. Do not stand in the entrance or in the aisle.

  • Do not move from one seat to another while on the bus.

  • While on the bus and while the bus is in motion, students must stay in their seats with arms and legs out of the aisle.

  • Please keep voice level low to minimize distractions to the bus driver.

  • Reminder the cell phone use should be appropriate. There should be no taking pictures, movies, or recordings while on the bus.

Reminder that bus riding is a privilege that may be revoked.

Dress Code Reminders from the Student Handbook

Students are to use discretion in their dress and are not permitted to wear apparel that causes a substantial disruption in the school environment.

  • Student dress (including accessories) may not advertise, promote, or picture alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, violent behavior, or other inappropriate images.

  • Coat and sunglasses may not be worn in the building during the school day.

  • No head coverings are allowed that obscure the view of the student's face.

  • Clothing that fails to adequately cover the body will not be permitted.

  • Appropriate foot wear must be worn at all times. Slippers and shoes with wheels are prohibited.
