Progress Indicators
Progress Indicators
CAS progress will be monitored and adjusted throughout the duration of the CAS programme. A student’s overall progress will fall under four categories:
Needs Improvement: A concern progress indicates that the student has major elements of the CAS programme missing. Action needs to be taken immediately to rectify this status. A concern status may be assigned because of, but not limited to, the following situations:
Missing a clear plan for one or more strands
Failure to demonstrate action and engagement within an experience
Gaps in experience timeline
Neglecting to contribute to portfolio in a timely manner
To Be Determined: This progress status indicates that the student might not have a complete understanding of all of the requirements of the programme based on their portfolio, but this can be rectified through coaching and conversation. The student might need coaching. A to be determined status may be assigned because of, but not limited to, the following situations:
Experience with a vague or unclear plan of action
A timeline that doesn’t match up with the actual experience itself
Reflections that are superficial
Experiences with no assigned supervisor
A plan for all three strands, but a large imbalance with one over the others
On-Track: This progress status indicates that the student has a firm grasp of the expectations of the programme. There is a clear and balanced plan for each of the strands and goals are connected to the learning outcomes. Reflections and pieces of evidence are consistent and the student has demonstrated and authentic level of engagement among all three strands.
Exceeding Expectations: This progress status indicates that the student is excelling at all facets of the program. They have emerged as genuine leaders and are demonstrating authentic personal growth through their experiences.
