Student Responsibilities

A key component to the CAS program is the student’s engagement, personal choice and enjoyment of their CAS experiences. Students are expected to engage with these experiences on a weekly basis, for a minimum of 18 months. At UNIS you are required to engage in the 3 strands in both G11 and G12. You should always be involved in at least one CAS experience and must also undertake at least one CAS project that is a minimum of one month duration and that demonstrates leadership and involves collaboration with other students. You will also be required to continue engaging in at least one CAS experience during the summer between G11 and G12.

You are expected to reflect meaningfully on a bi-monthly basis and provide evidence of engagement. The evidence collected in your CAS portfolio will demonstrate your achievement of the seven learning outcomes.

Additionally CAS students are expected to:

  • To reflect on CAS experiences at significant moments throughout CAS and maintain a CAS portfolio in Toddle (G11s) & Managebac (G12s).

  • To communicate responsibly with your Homebase Mentor and the UNIS CAS Coordinator (Mr Jarman) by reading and responding to emails, attending meetings and seeking clarification when necessary as you complete the CAS process. This includes the formal interviews (3) as well as informal discussions.

  • Ensure you maintain a suitable balance between Creativity, Activity and Service strands throughout the programme.

  • Understand what is an appropriate reflection and be able to identify the times and opportunities to reflect on your experiences.
