Call for Young Researchers Poster & Demo Showcase

The Connecting Mediterranean Research and Communities event is an initiative of the ACM Mediterranean SIGCHI (MedCHI) aimed at strengthening collaboration across the Mediterranean HCI community while supporting the next generation of researchers.

The Mediterranean region is characterized by unique cultural, social, environmental, and technological challenges that require interdisciplinary perspectives and locally grounded solutions. Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has the potential to play a central role in addressing these challenges by designing interactive technologies that are inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.

This event provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, PhD candidates, MSc students, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, present ongoing research, and build collaborations around Mediterranean-specific societal issues. Emphasis is placed on mentorship, community building, and fostering dialogue between established researchers and early-career scholars.

We invite submissions of original research that contribute to advancing HCI research and practice within Mediterranean contexts and beyond.

Submission Types and Guidelines

The proceedings of MedCHI_Connect 2026 will be published by Springer in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series.

All authors contributing a paper to the proceedings must prepare their manuscripts according to the official Springer Nature Instructions for Authors for Computer Science Proceedings and use the corresponding Springer proceedings templates.

The proceedings may include the following types of contributions:

Full Papers

(12-14 pages)

Full papers should present mature and original research contributions that advance knowledge in Human-Computer Interaction. Submissions are expected to provide sufficient methodological detail to ensure scientific rigor and reproducibility while discussing the broader implications of the findings for HCI research and practice.

Short Papers

(6-8 pages)

Short papers should present innovative ideas, emerging research directions, preliminary findings, case studies, or novel applications relevant to the event themes. Evaluation will primarily consider originality, relevance, and potential impact rather than the completeness of validation.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must use one of the official Springer proceedings templates:

LaTeX: Springer Computer Science Proceedings LaTeX template.
The LaTeX2e Proceedings Templates are also available in the scientific authoring platform Overleaf.
Microsoft Word: Springer Computer Science Proceedings Word template

Authors should follow the formatting, structure, references, figures, tables, and other manuscript-preparation requirements specified in the Springer Instructions for Authors.

Authorship

The author list and author order submitted for publication must be final. The corresponding author identified in the manuscript must be the same person who signs the Springer License-to-Publish agreement on behalf of all authors. The corresponding author must have the full right, power, and authority to sign the agreement on behalf of all authors of the paper.

Please carefully verify all author names, affiliations, email addresses, and the corresponding-author designation before submitting the final files. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes to the authorship of the papers cannot be made.

Notification to Authors: October 26, 2026
Camera-ready submission: November 4, 2026

Review Process

All paper manuscripts must be in English. Submissions must be anonymized for double-blind review. Author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and self-identifying references must be removed from the manuscript. Each submission will be reviewed by at least 3 members of the Program Committee. Papers will be evaluated on the basis of originality, significance, technical quality, methodological soundness, and clarity of presentation.
