Technology has changed the world, including the way we learn and teach. When used correctly, classroom technology can have a supremely positive impact on student outcomes at every grade level. Integrating technology into the classroom not only helps prepare students for the elaborate and technologically-connected world they will face going forward. It can also help simplify complex ideas that might otherwise be a struggle for some students to learn or enable students to work independently on more challenging tasks.

Junior A, 1 and 2 classes have i-Pads sets in their classrooms. J3 and J4 classes each have a class set of Chromebooks.
As a 1-1 school , the Middle School students are each given a Chromebook. The Chromebook provided by the school is on loan to students for the duration of their stay at UNIS and students are required to take good care of it.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY GUIDELINES
UNIS students are expected to use all electronic and computer devices and the school network in the spirit of the UNIS code of behavior and in a responsible, legal manner, following the guidelines listed in detail in the document above. These are also n the Student Handbook and are summarized below.
Protect and Safeguard Your Equipment
- In case of loss or damage, inform the school immediately and remember that you are covered to the extent outlined in the document you signed when you received your Chromebook.
- You are required to bring your Chromebook to school every day, fully charged.
- If needed, you may plug in your computer only into the outlets or charging stations provided for this purpose.
- Use the UNIS network and wireless access for school-related purposes only.
- Use UNIS electronic mail and other electronic resources provided to you for school-related purposes.
- You may not change your computer name, remote login, remote management and location.
- You may not install unlicensed or illegal software on your computer.
- You may not change the operating system on your computer.
- You may not delete existing tech accounts from your laptop.
Always use computers and other equipment with consideration and respect for others.
- Respect and Protect Yourself
- Use the World Wide Web and other online resources responsibly and only for school related activities.
- Protect your identity by not using or sharing your real name, address, phone number, picture or other personal information online.
- Respect the “Terms of Use Policy” of any Internet site that you wish to subscribe to. For example, many sites set a minimum age of 13 for accessing their site. Under no circumstances are students allowed to disregard such terms set forth by the site owner.
- Respect and Protect Others
- Be a responsible digital citizen by respecting the rights, property and privacy of others.
- Do not use UNIS electronic mail to solicit others for commercial, religious, or political causes, or for outside organizations.
- Never share your UNIS or online passwords with others.
- Understand that sending cruel messages or images, threatening others, harassing others or intimidating others is never appropriate. You should never engage in cyber bullying or allow others to do so.
- Respect the intellectual property and work of others and always cite your sources accurately.
- Never represent other people’s intellectual or artistic work as your own.
- Report all abuse of technology.
- Understand that all files on school computers or the school network, including e-mail, are subject to review by the administration if necessary.
- Consequences of Irresponsible Use Violating any of the above or any other activity that would be considered in violation of the major rules noted in the UNIS Student Handbook will result in disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate by the Administration.
