Reporting student progress is an essential part of the communication and partnership between home and schooI. Written reports are issued at the conclusion of each semester: Fall reports are issued at the end of January and spring reports are issued in June. Student-led conferences are held mid-semester, usually November and March/ April.
Student-led conferences are a way to actively engage students in their learning process. During student-led conferences, students share with their parents what they have learned, show their parents work samples, discuss assessment results and set goals for the future.
Following are some of the benefits of student-led conferences:
Students lead the conferences. This reaffirms to the student that they are responsible for their own learning.
Parents support their children as active listeners and to encourage students to be active and reflective learners.
Teachers help students prepare for the conference and guide students in the self- assessment process.
