Teaching
Mechanics of solids, 9 CFU (B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering, Roma)
Mechanics of structures, 6 CFU (M.Sc. in n Mechanical engineering, Roma)
Workshop on automatic structural analysis, 3 CFU (M. Sc. in Mechanical engineering, Roma)
Continuum Mechanics, 6 CFU (M. Sc. in Nanotechnology Engineering, Roma)
All material is in Italian up to now for the first three points. Please refer to the Italian version (button below) at the page "Didattica" for these subjects. Some content for Continuum Mechanics is also present there but it is reported below as well. In order to facilitate attending classes, please join the Classroom group Continuum Mechanics, code 3kqwzci, where links for remote connections are given and where all material will be uploaded.

CONTINUUM MECHANICS
academic year 2023/2024 - teacher in charge: Giuseppe C. Ruta
1. Three dimensional continua
Geometry, transformations, motions, descriptions of motion. Rigid body motions, power of outer actions, global balance equations. Deformation as rigidity defect, strain measures, 'infinitesimal' strain. Power of inner actions, stress, bulk and boundary local balance equations. States of stress and their representation. Linear elastic constitutive relations, linear elastic static problem and its resolution techniques. Yield criteria.
2. One-dimensional structured continua
Geometry, stress resultants, local balance for stress resultants, equation of the 'elastica', linear elastic static problem and its resolution techniques. Saint-Venant's hypothesis and conjecture. Extension, torsion, bending, flexure for compact sections, hints to 'thin' profiles. Resolution of benchmark problems for plane beams.
