The Department of Mathematics Guido Castelnuovo is among the 11 italian departments in the area Mathematics and Computer Sciences which will receive extra funding in the period 2023-2027 as beneficiaries of the Dipartimento di Eccellenza badge assigned by ANVUR.
The Department of Mathematics Guido Castelnuovo (DMC) is the first in the 2022 Shanghai Academic Ranking among Departments of Mathematics in Italy. The Eccellenza project aims to increase the attractiveness of the DMC towards researchers and students. We aim to achieve a synergy between quality of research, recruitment of young talents at national and international level, and contacts with the productive world.
The main objectives of the project are:
to strengthen the fields in which the DMC is traditionally strong, and to open the DMC to new fields
to increase attractiveness of the doctoral school, and of the DMC for postdocs and researchers
to recruite young talents
to increase participation in competitive funding programmes
to create a source of mathematical tools available to the productive world and schools
to improve infrastructures and computing resources.
