Color guard rehearses Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7:25-8:15 am (0 Period) and Friday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 in room 618 or the gym.
Color guard performances include:
Sunday, November 30 (evening) Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade

The Color Guard team includes a Flag team and the ID team.
Flag team members carry flags and perform choreographed routines with the flags. We typically have 20-30 flag team members. Flag team uniforms are provided by the band.
The ID team members carry the D-A-R-T-M-O-U-T-H shields and perform a choreographed routine with the shields. There will be 10 students on the ID team. ID team uniforms are provided by the band.
Any Dartmouth student in Grade 6-8 is eligible to try out for the Color Guard whether in a band class or not.
Attendance
Attendance at practices is critical because Color Guard only meets twice per week. If your student is ill or needs to miss practice for academic reasons, please speat with Andrew Thomas, the Color Guard Director, so a plan can be made to help them learn the music. Additionally, students who do not attend perfomances without requesting approval from Andrew ahead of time will be removed from Color Guard for the remainder of the season.
Activity Donation
Just as with sports, drama, choir, and other before- or after-school activities at DMS, there is no dedicated school budget for Color Guard. For that reason we ask that each student make an activity donation contribution of $90 to participate in the DMS Color Guard. This financial contribution helps offset the cost of the instructor, flag supplies, uniforms, and bus transportation.
Performance Attire
Students in Color Guard will be measured and fitted for a Color Guard uniform and appropriate footwear for parade performances.
Behavior
Participating in Color Guard is a privilege and all school behavior expectations must be met. By choosing to participate in Color Guard, you are agreeing to come to all practices and have a respectful, positive attitude. Performing in a Color Guard requires teamwork and all of us will be counting on you to participate and do your best! We all want to perform well adn have fun together!
Color Guard Parent Liaison
We need one or two parents who are willing to be the Color Guard liaison. The Color Guard Parent Liaison helps Color Guard with uniform measurements and helping the instructor with ad-hoc help for parade and performace preparation.
Other Ways You Can Help
We always accept additional donations and company matching (Tax ID #77-05163333). More information reguarding how you can help with performances will be coming.
