CHOIR
Choir Details
Choir is an after school activity. Choir is held Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 in room 618.
The Choir will perform at the following concerts with band:
Wednesday, October 25 Halloween Concert @ DMS
Tuesday, December 12 Winter Concert @ DMS
Wednesday, February 14 Valentine's Concert @ Brahnham High School
Tuesday, May 21 & Thursday, May 23 Spring Concerts @ DMS
Attendance
Because Choir only meets for an hour each week, attendance at rehearsals is critical. Students who have 2 or more unexcused absences during a performance prep period will not be allowed to perform in the following concert. If your student is ill or needs to miss rehearsal for academic reasons, please have them talk to Ms. West so a plan can be made for them to learn the music. Additionally, students who do not attend concerts without requesting approval from Ms. West ahead of time will be removed from Choir for the remainder of the year.
Activity Donation
Just as with sports, drama, jazz band, and other before- or after-school activities at DMS, there is no dedicated school budget for Choir. For that reason we ask that each student make an activity donation contribution of $120 to participate in the DMS Choir. This financial contribution helps offset the cost of the instructor, piano accompanist, and purchasing supplies and new music.
Concert Attire
Choir students wear a black DMS Choir shirt with black pants, shoes, and socks. If a student is also in Band during a combined concert, the student will wear their band attire for the concert. (This may change once choir is started.)
Behavior
Participating in Choir is a privilege and all school behavior expectations must be met. By choosing to participate in Choir, you are agreeing to come to all rehearsals and have a respectful, positive attitude. Singing in a choir requires teamwork and all of us will be counting on you to participate and do your best! We all want to perform well adn have fun together!
