The Uniondale debate team traveled to the 49th Annual Harvard National Forensic Tournament to debate other teams from the US, Canada, and the Dominican Republic. Debaters worked tirelessly leading up to this tournament to research their topic and put together their cases. The tournament days were filled with fierce competition, high fives, and reassurances by teammates.

Key Club is run by the spirit of Uniondale’s students. Members learn how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism, helping to build character. The club advisor, Mrs. Alicea, guides students and keeps them on track. In partnership with our local Kiwanis club, UHS students are making a positive impact as they serve others in our schools and community.
We have proudly assisted in many programs to help people in need. Some of these include volunteering at the Breast Cancer Walk, UNICEF, winter coat drive, and Breakfast with Santa, to mention a few. One particular activity was volunteering at a soup kitchen at the New Life Christian Center in Hempstead. Canned food was collected from teachers and staff at UHS and then donated to the soup kitchen, distributed to over 200 people. Toys were also given out to the children waiting in line.
As Key Club members, we take joy in helping people. Our club is akin to its community. As a student-run club, we value leadership and service. Our members strive to be leaders in and out of our club. This is why every member is essential, much like in our communities. All members of Key Club are leaders.
Ms. Auguste, Ms. Baez, and Ms. Rodriguez hosted their FREE Annual UHS Knight Thrift Shop on THURSDAY, March 23rd. The Thrift Shop was open to all scholars, allowing them to switch up their wardrobes & pick out some new clothing pieces! All clothing was new or gently used & in GREAT condition!
Thrifting is not only great for helping save your money, but it’s also a great way to help save the environment! It is a sustainable solution that is easy on the wallet. Therefore, opting to thrift rather than purchasing from fast fashion brands (like Forever 21 or H&M) is a form of protest and keeps the money out of the pockets of large corporations who exploit workers and the environment. Thrifting keeps clothing in the cycle of use and consumption much longer than fast fashion, forcing many brands to put less money into producing more new clothing.
A huge thank you to all of our Latinos Unidos student volunteers and a special shout out to our teachers, volunteers, and staff that helped supervise/assist the day of; Ms. Diaz, Mr. Parraga, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Alicea, Ms. Teich, Ms. Tella-Williams and our custodians Mr. Miguel, Mr. Manuel, Mr. Boose!
