Meet the Escobar Sisters
Karen Escobar is a twelfth-grader who enjoys doing art and says she likes the different art styles and how she can express herself through them. Karen shared that she gets most of her inspiration from scrolling through Pinterest. Karen also added that she chose to draw strawberries because they are her favorite. She aspires to go to college once she is done with school.
Andrea Escobar is also a twelfth-grader who finds joy in creating art. She says the thing she loves most about it is being herself, drawing what she wants, and having complete control over her art piece. Andrea says her art piece was an assignment for class where they had to paint in black and white. Most of Andreas's art inspiration comes from her creativity, where she sees something and wants to paint it. Andrea would love to go to college to pursue a art as a major and one day as a career.
Marlene “BEA” Peters
“I’m not the most conventionally artistic person. I doodle, paint and create things through writing. But I do like to express myself where my strengths lie like graffiti art, making zines, and poems, taking photos, and writing. I never really had faith in myself because I’m not a standard artist, I created in different ways than my friends did and felt less than others. Soon I discovered that almost all my hobbies were art forms and there were entire mini communities surrounding some of my favorite interests!”
Aurorah Spencer,
U.H.S. senior
My name is Aurorah Spencer, and my preliminary sketches are one of the many forms of art I create. I’ve been making many different art mediums ever since I was young. Since I was little, I always wrote poems, sketched, drawn, painted, and sang to express my inner emotions. I’ve always allowed my art to be a medium of more profound subconscious ideals constantly seen throughout society. Art has always guided me through learning about myself and many other things. Through these portraits and poems, I display my perception of beauty and the journey to how I defined beauty within myself and the world around me. Art will continue to be one of my navigators through life and my many inner worlds.
