CALL FOR PROPOSALS
for the 2026 CIME PROGRAM

application form: tex, pdf

CIME is accepting proposals for Schools to be held in 2026.
Proposals should be submitted by August 31st, 2024 to fondazione.cime@gmail.com.

A CIME School may have from one to three Directors; preferably there should be an Italian and a foreign director (that is, a director with a permanent position in a foreign institution). A typical CIME School consists of three to five courses and each course consists of 5 to 7 hours of lectures. Globally, a school ranges from 20 to 30 hours of lessons. Exceptionally, a different format may be taken into consideration.

If a proposal is accepted, the CIME Foundation will take care of the organization and of the needed administrative support and office stationery and will assure the publication of the lecture notes of the School in the prestigious CIME Foundation subseries of the Springer LNM.

The typical budget of a CIME School ranges between 13.000 and 20.000 euros (excluding travel expenses). CIME usually contributes around 7.000 euros: the Directors preparing the proposal should then guarantee a suitable amount of funds to integrate CIME's contribution.
These funds are usually meant to partially cover the costs of the School, in particular the living expenses of the Directors and the Lecturers, or of selected young participants. Indeed, when applying for the school, Ph.D. and Postdoc students can apply for a grant covering their living expenses - full board - for up to six days: the cost is around 500 euros for each grant. We expect that, according to the available resources (coming from the Scientific Directors and from CIME) and to the financial plan, it is possible to distribute at least 10 grants: clearly, the greater the funds at disposal, the larger the number of grants distributed. The attribution of grants will be decided by the Scientific Directors of the School, based on the analysis of CVs and motivations (with a focus on gender balance and support for underrepresented groups).

We recall that each Lecturer will be required to prepare, shortly after the school, notes of the course to be published in a dedicated volume of the CIME Foundation Subseries of the Springer Lecture Notes in Mathematics. By accepting to be a Lecturer of a Course, it is intended that one commits herself/himself to prepare the related notes.

The list of the CIME Schools of the last years is available at the CIME webpage: https://sites.google.com/unifi.it/cime/. A facsimile of the application is available in tex or pdf format.
