The IMSE 2026 Social Dinner will take place on 22 July 2026 at Hotel San Domenico al Piano, Via Roma 15, Matera. 

The dinner will be at 20:30. The cost of the dinner is €50 for person and the menù can be download here.

Payment must be made in advance according to the instructions that participants registered for the Social Dinner will receive by email.

Special dietary requirements, allergies, and food intolerances will be accommodated upon request.

Tuesday, 21 July - Sunset Tour of the Sassi of Matera

Experience the enchanting atmosphere of the Sassi di Matera as the sun sets over the ancient stone districts. Wander through picturesque alleys, panoramic terraces, and hidden corners while discovering the history and traditions of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During the tour, you will visit a remarkable rock-hewn complex featuring two cave churches, an ancient monastery, historic wine cellars, and an atmospheric network of pathways connecting traditional cave dwellings.  As twilight falls and the city lights begin to illuminate the Sassi, Matera reveals its most captivating and unforgettable side.

Tuesday, 23 July - Tour of noble residences and contemporary art in Matera

The historic center of Matera is not only composed of the cave houses of the Sassi, but also of palaces and historic houses. The majestic residences that dominated the humble lodgings of the people still stand out from around the cathedral. Today, some of these houses host luxurious hotels and spectacular contemporary art exhibitions.

Along the eighteenth-century plan, some noble palaces and will be visited to discover the stories and treasures they hold. You will discover the stories and legends that speak of kings, counts and princes who lodged there in the past. Visit to a contemporary sculpture Museum located in Palazzo Pomarici.
