Laboratorium Rumah Sejarah Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) telah menjadi pusat bagi mahasiswa dan masyarakat untuk belajar, berdiskusi, serta mencari sumber sejarah yang otentik sejak berdiri pada tahun 2011. Dengan tujuan mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan, laboratorium ini terus berinovasi dan memperkaya koleksinya dari masa ke masa. Awalnya, tempat ini merupakan ruang referensi dan perpustakaan yang menyimpan naskah manuskrip kuno yang bernilai tinggi. Proses transformasi menjadi Laboratorium Rumah Sejarah memakan waktu panjang, dimulai dari pengumpulan referensi hingga perombakan struktur, dan akhirnya diwujudkan sebagai ruang belajar yang nyaman dan ramah.

Laboratorium ini tidak hanya menyimpan koleksi miniatur seperti Candi Borobudur dan kapal VOC, tetapi juga artefak penting dari masa Pra-Sejarah, yang diambil dari museum Sangiran. Pada tahun 2020, dengan berkembangnya era digital, Laboratorium Rumah Sejarah memperkenalkan E-katalog yang berisi jurnal Avatara dan Kronik, sebagai bagian dari usahanya untuk mengakomodasi kebutuhan zaman.

Namun demikian, meski telah memiliki beberapa fitur digital, Laboratorium Rumah Sejarah masih berada dalam proses transisi menuju digitalisasi yang lebih komprehensif. Banyak koleksi yang dapat diakses secara daring melalui katalog online, tetapi akses penuh terhadap materi dan artefak sejarah yang tersimpan secara fisik masih menjadi tantangan. Dalam kondisi ini, laboratorium tetap menjadi pusat eksplorasi sejarah secara langsung, dengan koleksi tulang, koin, dan miniatur candi yang masih memukau pengunjung.

The History House Laboratory of Surabaya State University (Unesa) has been a center for students and the public to study, discuss, and explore authentic historical sources since its establishment in 2011.
