Make timely decisions so that students have time to compare options. Students have the option to opt-out of the Niner Course Pack by a certain date if they believe that it would be a better financial decision for them. By submitting your textbook choice early and letting your students know what you have chosen, you are giving them time to do proper research to make the best decision for themselves.
Consult with your subject librarian to see if Atkins LIbrary already offers or can get ahold of an electronic version of your textbook. For students who prefer print books, see if you can place an extra copy of your textbook in the library's course reserves.
Consider using the same textbook in all sections of a course. Along with this, take the time to compare content changes between editions and try to keep older editions when able.
Submit your textbook selection through Barnes and Noble College's AIP.
AIP provides faculty with enhanced features that complement the University’s commitment to affordability and transparency, including the ability to:
Browse over 10 million textbooks, ebooks and courseware from all major publishers,
Search for free Open Educational Resources (OER) to enhance or replace traditional course materials,
Easily redesignate previously adopted course materials with One Click Re-Adopt,
View a personalized Course List to easily search, research, and submit your adoptions, and
Receive In-line affordability recommendations as a complement or substitute to traditional course materials.
Faculty will also receive reminders with textbook adoption deadlines and notifications when new editions of textbooks are available.
