If there’s anything there are any issues that a faculty member would like to take care of or new technology to implement, this process will allow them to work with skilled professionals who are passionate about online learning.

Three times a year, during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Faculty members are expected to spend 2-4 hours on their course per week. You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert. The Instructional Designer will meet with you weekly or bi-weekly to discuss course updates and ideas.
It depends on the faculty member and their course. Your Instructional Designer will work with you individually to ensure that your course is designed to meet your goals.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for scheduling and leading meetings, reviewing course materials, and designing the new course.
Participants are expected to complete tasks along with the ID in order to have a course that is ready to be used for the upcoming semester.
A course refresh includes design updates to an existing course. Full development is a brand new course.
The Instructional Designer follows a schedule over the course of the semester to complete the course. Courses are expected to be completed by the end of the semester.
The ID will use a fresh Canvas for your new course. You will be able to import the materials to an existing course shell.
While you are in the live course, you have the option to import course material from an existing course. Select the new course that was designed for you to transfer the information to your live course shell.
Faculty members who complete the course development process by the deadline will receive a stipend.
Quality Matters is a national peer-review process that certifies online courses based on set quality standards. We strive to provide students with quality courses to enhance their learning experience and promote student success.
Yes, our IDs design the course with QM in mind. They also keep track of QM standards as they move through the course development process.
Even if your course has already been QM certified, you can still participate in the course development process.

Your instructional designer will be able to help you edit and revise the objectives for your course. We also offer an asynchronous self-paced workshop, Introduction to Learning Objectives, that will provide concrete steps for planning and writing course and module objectives. There is a variety of media that we can incorporate into your course. Your instructional designer will collaborate with the media team to start the process.
This would depend on your specific goals for your course. Collaborate with your instructional designer to develop a plan to increase the effectiveness of your discussion boards.
There are features in Canvas that will help you save time grading assignments. Consult with your instructional designer to advise. We also offer Canvas Assignments and Gradebook, a workshop presented virtually and available asynchronously online. The workshop covers calculating course grades, creating assignments, SpeedGrader, and rubrics.
The course production team hosts DesignTools workshops for faculty who have already gone through the course production process. We ask that you only use DesignTools for the course designed by our team.
There are many options to choose from. Your ID will have the best advice on the route you should take to incorporate media into your course.
We strive to utilize our online resources. If the textbook is available as an ebook, we can definitely add it to the course. We can also upload accessible sections of the book to help students save money.
It’s recommended that faculty members schedule 3 hours per week for office hours and make it clear in the course syllabus.

Faculty members and their ID will virtually present the newly designed course to fellow course production team members, faculty, and department chairs. The closeout meeting serves as a celebration of the great work that was put into the course.
