WBS is a primary factor for management planning, monitoring, and control of a project scope. In the agile methodology, the scope of a project is not always defined. It is everchanging and growing. All the requirements, features, and stories that are part of the project are included in the backlog of a product. The scope of agile projects is supported by the backlog. In agile development, epics are broken down into user stories, just as the higher level elements of the WBS are divided into working packages. Work packages represent the lowest level of WBS, so (user) stories also represent the lowest level of WBS for agile projects. In other words, Agile WBS work packages support (user) stories. In a WBS we can have the releases broken into sprints. In each sprint, we deliver a part of the project. A WBS can be used to depict those releases and manage the sprints.
