May 17th, 2023. Dr. Federico Brigante has been selected to continue his studies at the Edmund Mach Foundation from August. We thank him for his valuable years in our workgroup and wish him luck on this new journey. Congratulations, Federico!
May 8th, 2023. Our team members presented both a poster and an oral presentation at the 5th argentinian workshop of magnetic resonance (TARM), co-organized by some of our group members along members of the university , showcasing their innovative work in natural product research, antimicrobial activity, and NMR spectroscopy. The poster presentation provided an opportunity for our researchers to discuss their latest findings on natural products with potent antimicrobial properties, while the oral presentation highlighted their work on elucidating the structures of these compounds using advanced NMR techniques.

May 8th, 2023. We are honored to have Renata and Alejandro as members of our team and look forward to their continued success in the field of natural product research. Congratulations, Renata and Alejandro, on this well-deserved recognition!
April 15th, 2023. We are excited to share the groundbreaking research findings in which Dr. Manuela García from our group took part, in natural product chemistry and cancer research. The authors conducted a BRCA2-centric synthetic lethal screen, using a collection of plant-derived compounds from South America. We identified the steroidal alkaloid Solanocapsine as a selective SL inducer, and further derived multiple analogs to increase its potency. The research led to the discovery of the nucleotide salvage pathway enzyme deoxycytidine kinase (dCK) as Solanocapsine's target, responsible for its BRCA2-linked synthetic lethal induction. This novel finding paves the way for new therapeutic alternatives to PARP inhibitors, and has the potential to significantly impact the treatment of BRCA2-deficient cancers.
