This is a guide for scheduling an appointment with a Peer Academic Leader.

Who should schedule a Welcome Session?

All New Henry W. Bloch Scholars, Marion H. Bloch Scholars, KC Scholars, Roo Advantage Scholars, and PAL Provisional Admission students are required to complete a Welcome Session prior to your first semester at UMKC.
Incoming students enrolled in GEFSE 101 First Semester Experience have the option to complete a Welcome Session prior to the start of the term.

What happens during a Welcome Session?

You'll learn more about the PAL Program, including participation requirements specific to your classes, scholarships, admission requirements, etc.
We'll gather your feedback to help us choose your Peer Mentor for the upcoming semester. Your input matters!
You'll have an opportunity to seek advice from an experienced UMKC student. Peer Mentors can answer your questions and connect you to other resources on campus.

How to Schedule a Welcome Session:

Scheduling for Incoming Spring 2024 Students will be available starting November 15th

Scheduling for Incoming Summer and Fall 2024 Students will be available starting March 1st

Login to UMKC Connect (link at bottom right corner of umkc.edu; call 816-235-2000 if you need help finding your login details)
Find “Peer Academic Leaders” in your Services.
1. If you don’t see the Peer Academic Leaders service, send us an email so we can make sure you are entered properly to our system!
Click the “Schedule” button in the PAL service
Choose “New Scholar Welcome Session”
Choose the time you prefer. You may schedule with any of the Peer Academic Leaders for this initial Welcome Session.
1. If you prefer an on-campus meeting, choose of the options that says “multiple appointment locations”
Click Continue
Choose your location (note - some slots are limited to online only and will not let you choose location.)
Click Confirm
