we grow many of the indian vegetables, (desi, heirloom produce) and grains, well known throughout the indian subcontinent and asia, consumed for a long period, that have been woven into memories.
we like to be informed and educated about things we haven't gotten familiar with, so please help us to know more, like many of the plants we considered as weeds (and some we would like to have way less of), turned out to be edible, highly nutritious and/or medicinal.

if a bug is eating it, we should be good eating it. if it is good for bugs, it would be good for us. a portion of crop is to be food for other life forms as well. in a healthy ecology, everybody should get fair share of food, so everyone can perform their role in the ecology.

as we afford to avoid synthetic applications, we observe many life forms as part of farm's ecology. these vibrant, biodiverse life forms help us to grow and harvest foods and avoid application of any synthetics, herbicides, pesticides. the practice makes the farm livelier.
off many insects we can easily recognize and spot are monarch butterflies, bumble bees, carpenter bees, crickets, grasshoppers, praying mantises, dragon flies, fire flies, lady bugs, lace wing, ground beetles, dung beetles, flies, small and large birds, and many more.
off many, we shouldn't avoid to mention the not so pleasantly popular insects, aphids, japanese beetles, the beautiful spotted lantern flies as they contribute in keeping healthy population of beneficial insects.
belief in nature is to accept, every form of life has an important role and purpose, in an ecological balance.
we make compost and compost tea to enhance and enrich life in the soil. as we reduce soil disturbance (conservative tillage, no till), the microbiota in the soil thrives. we hope, these changes will help us to have healthier plants and hence healthier foods.
carbon sequestration in the soil is important. the wild bacteria and yeast are very important in keeping carbon sequestered.
we make efforts to support and maintain habitats for many small life forms. the microbial life in the soil are real farmers and contribute to comprehensive health.

the practice of hügelkultur is promising and certainly is a good habitat for many of the life forms.
some use of biochar has been very promising and we believe it will be of significance as we get to utilize more.
we are observing gradual gains from permaculture practices.
the principles of biodynamics practice are certainly advantageous.
at times we get to work with wood in various forms. it certainly is rewarding in many ways.
paw paw trees have grown and are bearing fruits, it is delight to enjoy the flavors and texture they impart of a tropical fruit.
overall, our belief and practices of vedic (holistic) farming are beneficial and inherently sustainable.
in our experience, spirituality is science and science is spirituality. science awakens us towards nature and naturals. gathering the knowhow, informs us of the science. spirituality is awakening, consciousness and being one with every element that affects us directly and indirectly. our cultural diets are based upon knowledge and wisdom gathered over millennia. it is ancient wisdom, that has finetuned and passed down to us, in our families. our eating habits are big part of our spiritual experience and exchange, it is time tested science.
