Join the Data Science and AI Hub for a day dedicated to amplifying the voices of women, non-binary, and gender-diverse professionals in AI and data science. Experience inspiring talks, engaging stories, and meaningful connections with leaders shaping the future of the field. From breakthroughs in AI to critical conversations on data ethics, this community-focused event is all about learning, collaboration, and celebration.
At WiADS, the energy comes from more than just the presentations—it’s the conversations in the hallways, the connections made over coffee, and the ideas sparked in every session. Throughout the day, you’ll be immersed in a mix of inspiring talks, hands-on learning, and collaborative opportunities designed to fuel both your curiosity and your career.
Dr. Alex Hanna is Director of Research at the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR) and a sociologist focused on how data used in computational technologies reinforce racial, gender, and class inequalities.
Dr. Alex Hanna is just one of the many incredible speakers joining WiADS this year. From innovators in AI to leaders in data ethics, our lineup will challenge your thinking, expand your skills, and connect you with fresh perspectives from across industry and academia.

Who is the (DSAI)?
You may remember us as the Data Science Initiative (DSI)—the team that organized last year’s Women in AI & Data Science (WiADS) event. This year, we’ve reintroduced ourselves as the Data Science and AI (DSAI) Hub, reflecting our expanded mission.
The DSAI Hub brings together people, resources, and opportunities across the University of Minnesota to advance both data science and artificial intelligence. While our name is new, our purpose remains the same: to foster community, spark collaboration, and support innovative research and education.
By broadening from DSI to DSAI, we’re better positioned to:
Connect and amplify work in both data science and AI.
Serve as a central resource for students, faculty, staff, and partners.
Support events, initiatives, and partnerships that showcase the University’s leadership in these fields.
In short: same dedicated team, same passion, but now with a broader vision that includes both Data Science and AI.
