The Tanzabilities study aims to create a disability-focused sexual and reproductive health curriculum for health students in Tanzania.
The purpose of the Tanzabilities study is to improve the sexual and reproductive health of people with disabilities in Tanzania through inclusive health student training. The project is funded through the NIH (grant number: R01HD110999) and is a collaboration between the University of Minnesota and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania.
In the first phase of the project, the research team interviewed people with disabilities, caretakers, key informants, health students, and healthcare professionals in Dar es Salaam.
In the second phase, these perspectives are being used to design a three-day curriculum.
In the third stage, the project will evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum using a randomized controlled trial.
